Lost some nouns today.
I was trying to yell at Sam for eating a chocolate chip cookie whilst playing Zoo Tycoon on the computer. I had just taken the cookies out of the oven. And he was holding the hot cookie in a dish towel.
But I couldn't remember the words, "dish towel".
So I said, "Hey! You know you are not supposed to eat by the computer! What is THAT you have the cookie on! That is my good- THAT! Why did you take THAT to- The cloth thing! The- THING with the COOKIE ON IT! You know better than that! You get a- a- NAPKIN, not a- THAT THING!"

I once got so mad at my boys I couldnt even say their names right, I called Derek, Daryl.
He was less then amused hah.
I don't have kids and this happens to me, too. It's like you're in the middle of a conversation, and suddenly, whole parts of the vocabulary hide behind a tree or something.
And, on a similar note to Jess' comment, when my dad would get mad at me, he'd say all the other kids' names before mine. I'm the youngest, so he'd be bellowing "Don-Squir-Tard-Tim-KATHLEEN!"
Very amusing as I could be gone by the time he got to my name.
I do this allll the time and I eventually stop and say, "you know what I mean," and my honey man always does

Hubs is always making fun of me for calling things "thing". "Ya know, the thing!"
Yup, here too. I call Brennen Hunter, and the reverse. I called one of them the dogs name once...he just looked at me like I was insane and we both cracked up.
My parents still do it. There are 3 of us, and I'm always Anna or Beth...never Dawn until the very end...like Bucky's dad :-)
I do the 'thing' thing too. 'you know, the one thing'.
